Volume Calculation

Several free online calculators and widgets can help you determine the amount of concrete needed. These tools often include built-in formulas and sometimes offer material estimates such as how many bags you'll need or the total cost.
CalculatorSoup – Concrete Calculator Supports slab, wall, footer, column, steps, curb and gutter Includes US and metric units Provides formulas such as Slab: Length × Width × Depth Round column: π × (Diameter/2)² × Height Can convert volume to cubic feet, cubic yards, or cubic meters Website: https://www.calculatorsoup.com...
BusyBusy Concrete Calculator Supports slab, wall, column (round or square), footer, steps, curb, and gutter Offers both volume and cost estimates Units in feet, inches, or meters Website: https://busybusy.com/calculato...
OmniCalculator – Concrete Tools Dedicated calculators for columns and slabs Estimates volume, number of bags, and mix ratios Break down component materials: cement, sand, gravel Includes mix strength and bag size options Website: https://www.omnicalculator.com...
Multicalchub Concrete Volume Calculator Includes slab, column, beam, footing, and steps Allows user to apply mix ratio guidance and waste factor Simple layout for quick input Website: https://multicalchub.com/calcu...
GCalculate Concrete Volume Tool Supports standard and complex shapes Includes a waste percentage input Useful for planning overages in pours Website: https://gcalculate.com/constru...
How These Calculators Work
They all use basic volume formulas:
Slabs and Walls: Length × Width × Depth
Columns (square): Side × Side × Height
Columns (cylindrical): π × Radius² × Height
Steps: Width × Rise × Tread × Number of steps (plus platform volume)
Most tools convert Cubic Feet to Cubic Yards (Dividing by 27). Some also offer conversion to Cubic Meters.
Advanced calculators may also estimate the number of 40, 60, or 80 lb bags of pre-mixed concrete needed.
Mix ratio breakdowns are sometimes included, especially in OmniCalculator. A typical mix might be 1:2:3 (Portland Cement: Sand: Gravel). Some tools will also let you estimate how much water is needed and account for Shrinkage and Waste, typically adding 5% to 10% to the calculated volume.
Suggested Use Process
Measure each area: slabs, columns, steps, and any custom features like curbs or patios Choose the appropriate calculator based on what you’re estimating Input accurate dimensions in feet, inches, or meters Select a waste percentage if the tool allows it Review the volume in cubic yards, cubic meters, or cubic feet Note the bag estimate or cost if offered
Embedding and Downloads
CalculatorSoup and some others offer embed codes for websites. Others can be used directly online or via mobile apps like Handyman Calculator or BlockLayer.
