STRIPPNG

FORMING

Concrete Form Stripping

The process of removing the Molds or Forms once the concrete has set. The Forms typically are made from wood, steel, aluminum, or plastic.

Timing is critical in form Stripping. If forms are removed too early, the concrete may still be weak and prone to damage. Typically, the process begins 24 to 48 hours after pouring, depending on factors such as temperature, mix design, and specific project requirements.

Vertical Formwork, such as that used for Walls and Columns, is usually stripped earlier than soffit forms in slabs or beams, which need more time to support the concrete’s load. Even after forms are removed, the concrete continues to cure and gain strength over time.

What is a Burk Bar?

A Burke Bar, is a specialized pry bar used during concrete form Stripping. It is designed to help safely and efficiently separate formwork from surfaces.
