Finishing refers to the last steps in the process of placing concrete to achieve the desired surface appearance, texture, and durability.
Common Finishes include Broom Finish, which provides a textured, slip-resistant surface commonly used for outdoor slabs like sidewalks and driveways; Trowel Finish, which is smooth and flat for indoor use; Exposed Aggregate Finish, where the top layer of cement paste is removed to reveal decorative stone or gravel; Stamped or Patterned Finishes, which mimic the look of stone, brick, or tile; and Polished Finishes, which result in a smooth surface often used in commercial or decorative settings.
Edging and Jointing are also part of the Finishing process. Edging involves shaping and rounding the slab edges to prevent chipping. Jointing Creates Control joints at planned locations to manage cracks resulting from expansion and contraction.
